Background to Spring Thread®

Spring Thread® was first CE marked in 2008 and was designed and is 100% manufactured in France.

What is Spring Thread® made of?

Spring Thread® comprises of a polyester thread with soft silicone cogs moulded upon it. These materials have been used in surgery for decades and are 100% biocompatible with the skin.

Who is the ideal user of Spring Thread®?

Spring Thread® is sought after by aesthetic practitioners with experience of absorbable threads, who have learned their limitations in lift and longevity of result, particularly for clients of advancing age with moderate facial tissue sagging. They are now seeking to achieve more.

Who is the ideal patient of Spring Thread®?

Patients who are seeking a genuine alternative to surgical lifting, or have had surgical lifting previously and want a top-up. Most typically they range from 40-70 years old. Some have had thread lifting treatments before but have been unsatisfied with their results.

Patients should be in good health. Their skin should not be too wrinkled, excessively saggy or extremely heavy, although these patients can often be made good for Spring Thread® with preparatory treatments such as deep peels, liposuction or skin tightening.

Are permanent threads dangerous?

With any thread, complications can occur such as infection or threads that have been poorly implanted, which comes down to poor technique. Unlike with absorbable threads, with Spring Thread®, we do not get hard end thread extrusions thanks to thread elasticity and we do not see tissue granulomas, due to the materials being biocompatible. Spring Thread® can also be removed and they retract as a single piece, which gives confidence to new Spring Thread® practitioners, knowing that any incorrect implantation can be managed quickly and successfully.

What is Spring Thread's objective?

Spring Thread® is designed to replace loose connective tissue. It lifts sagging skin and then mimics connective tissue action, thanks to the mechanism of the thread elasticity, to give a long lasting and natural looking lift to facial tissue.

How long do the results last?

Clinical research suggests that non-surgical procedures with Spring Thread® offer the majority of patients good results for 2-3 years, slowly fading, after which they can have more implanted. This time can be extended with more aggressive techniques such as skin undermining and excision.

What areas can be treated?

Spring Thread® is very effective in lifting the mid and lower face, the neck, and brows.

What makes Spring Thread® the most advanced and effective Thread for long term patient satisfaction?

Features and benefits

  • Flexible Elastic Thread: With similar elasticity to the skin, around 20%, Spring Thread® dynamically stabilises the tissue for more natural looking results.
  • Numerous Cogs: 24 per CM and pointing in 4 directions gives very strong lifting and distributes tension along the whole length of the thread.
  • Rounded Cogs: Avoid injuring tissues and induce wider fibrosis. The cogs are non aggressive and the risk of tissue injury is reduced and patient comfort increased. Result: atraumatic installation for a shorter recovery time.
  • Longer Lasting: Unlike absorbable threads, good results with Spring Thread® last between 3 and 10 years, dependent upon the implantation technique.
  • Permanent Materials: Made of polyester and silicone, material used in surgery for 50+ years, Spring Thread® is the safe option as it’s 100% biocompatible and can be removed.
  • Long flexible needles: With a blunt end in order to minimize surgical risks, they provide an efficient grip and their flexibility allows for more comfortable thread installation, in complete safety.
  • More Technical Possibilities: Can be used for non-surgical lifting as well as with surgical lifting, incorporated into simplified MACS-lift.
  • 100% French design and production.
